Things are heating up in chapter 6 of the Gospel of John. Jesus performs several significant miracles including walking on water and feeding the 5,000 but that does not mean all is well. Jesus sees the wrong motives of many of the people who Him. He begins to challenge them. In fact, this chapter contains one of the weirdest statements of Jesus documented in any of the gospels.
JB and Casie Shreve are joined by James, Damien and Liv as we continue our podcast walk through the Gospel of John this week.
In chapter 6 of the Gospel of John we find Jesus separating those who follow Him for their own interests and those who follow Him based upon spiritual hunger.
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” John 6:66-69 (NIV)
