Did Jesus Give An Impossible Standard for Lust and Adultery?

June 13, 20241 min read

When Jesus talked about the issues of lust and adultery, he went right for the jugular. Most religious approaches to these issues look at license, what you can or can’t do. But in the Manifesto of the Kingdom of God, Jesus dealt with reality. And even better, He created a pathway for us to fulfill these standards.

Episode 16: The Manifesto: Life, Politics, and Reality in the Kingdom of God

Jesus held nothing back when he presented His Manifesto (traditionally called the Sermon on the Mount). In this episode we explore how he went directly to the heart of the matter when it came to lust and adultery. We also look at what He did, and did not mean when He presented this message.

What we traditionally refer to as the “Sermon on the Mount” was actually a revolutionary manifesto for a new way of life in the Kingdom of God. In today’s unsettling and polarized age, the teachings of this Kingdom Manifesto are as relevant and vital as ever. In this multi-part series, JB Shreve and Faithful Considerations takes a deep dive into the Manifesto: Life, Politics, and Reality in the Kingdom of God.
