Jesus Despised Religion

May 15, 20241 min read

Jesus despised religion. That’s one of the key messages he brings home to us again and again throughout the Sermon on the Mount and the gospels. This continuation of our last episode look at the real enemy of the Kingdom of God.

Episode 13: Manifesto: Life, Politics, and Reality in the Kingdom of God

In this episode, part of our ongoing series covering the Sermon on the Mount, we continue our look at the greatest opposition to the Kingdom of God in the earth when Jesus taught and all the way to today.

It wasn’t earthly rulers and powers but religious systems and rulers who disguised themselves as the truth but led the people toward death and darkness. Today’s episode covers Matthew 23 as Jesus pronounced judgment upon the religious systems that stood in the way of the Kingdom of God.

What we traditionally refer to as the “Sermon on the Mount” was actually a revolutionary manifesto for a new way of life in the Kingdom of God. In today’s unsettling and polarized age, the teachings of this Kingdom Manifesto are as relevant and vital as ever.

In this multi-part series, JB Shreve and Faithful Considerations takes a deep dive into the Manifesto: Life, Politics, and Reality in the Kingdom of God.
